Following on from our previous article “5 Reasons You Should Workout Regularly” we’re back with another top 5, this time, for stretching and mobility.

Stretching to maintain flexibility and mobility is an important thing to do before you start (as well as when you finish) any form of exercise or training, especially if you’re just starting out on your fitness journey.
As we said previously, fitness is for life, so check out our top 5 reasons you should stretch before and after a workout to ensure you can live yours in the best possible condition:
#1: Can reduce the risk of injury from muscular strains and tight muscles.
#2: Helps to increase your range of motion when performing circuit training and other dynamic forms of training.
#3: Being limber can help workout sessions be more effective and improve overall posture.
#4: A good warm-up, before or after a workout, can lead to improved blood circulation in the vessels that are within the connective tissue that surrounds your muscle fibres.
#5: Regular stretching can improve flexibility over time.
Summary
Whilst it’s always important to do either dynamic or static stretching before and after exercise or training, it’s also good to stretch at different points during the day too.
Regardless of whether you’re going to be exercising – you should aim for first thing in the morning when you wake, last thing at night before you sleep and at varying intervals throughout your work or study day.
WRKOUT: MODE DISCLAIMER / NOTE
Take a few moments to ‘check-in’ with yourself each time you get ready to practise any form of exercise and be sure to warm-up appropriately.
If your body is not able to do any of the movement postures, just sit comfortably and run through them in your mind, never do anything that causes pain or discomfort – less is often more.
Always, consult your doctor or medical practitioner before carrying out any new exercise routine.
